GUIDELINES FOR
Jubilee Colonial Faire
Jubilee State Park, Brimfield, IL
25-27 September 2009
GUIDELINES
We request that you change to 18th-century dress as soon as your camp is set up and remain in proper dress when in the camp.  We also ask that your camp remain18th century at all times, even if there are no spectators present.  We are striving to put on the most authentic muster possible, not only for the spectators, but for the participants as well.
Attire should be military or eastern frontier civilian (1750-1790).  Pay attention to headgear, small clothes, footware and outerwear.  No long-fringed buckskins.  Children should be properly attired for their age.  Flintlocks only, no percussion.
Vehicles will be allowed in the camp area to unload and load only.  No overnight parking in the camp area.  No vehicles in camp after 8:30 am Saturday unless it is an emergency.
Tents must be authentic to the period.  All non-18th century items should be kept out of sight at all times.  Pay attention to drink containers, food items, cooking and eating utensils, make-up, jewelry, watches and modern eyeglasses.
Interpretation and demonstration are encouraged in the camps and by sutlers.  Sales are also permitted by license agreement with the park.
Sutlers must deal with 18th-century items only.  No rubber tomahawks and neon feathers.  We want to emphasize authenticity at the event.  There will be a trade committee to check on items.
NOTE:  PLEASE RETURN PRE-REGISTRATION BY JULY 31, 2009.  FOR MORE INFORMATION, CALL 708-269-1965.
(1)  Participation will be limited to registered units or individuals depicting troops, civilians, camp followers or Native Americans living east of the Mississppi during the time frame 1750-1790.
(2)  Participation is by pre-registration only and this is a juried event.  This will enable us to better plan the event in terms of the battle scenarios, space for camps and food for the Saturday evening potluck meal.  In order to be juried, you must send your application including a picture of yourself in period clothes with gear, as well as a statement of your 18th-century persona, before 31 July 2009.
(3)  CAMP GEAR:  Tents must be authentic to the period.  Military units should have wedge, officer's wall or marquee.  No teepees.  All non-18th century items should be kept out of sight at all times, even after hours.  Since a great part of the enjoyment of this type of event is the "atmosphere", we want everyone to remain in period attire and keep camp areas authentic, even in the evenings after the public is gone.  If you must make a run for supplies such as ice or food, please bring a tote bag to carry them back to camp.  All drinks must be in a proper 18th-century container at all times.  Straw will be available upon request.  The handcart was made for the use of the reenactors if they need to move something through camp, i.e. ice, food, firewood, etc.  It can also be used to haul gear for late arrivals, or if someone must leave early for an emergency.
(4)  ATTIRE:  Attire will be 1750-1790 military, eastern frontier civilian, or Native American.  American colonial, British, French, Spanish and Prussian groups are invited. Children should be properly attired for their age.  No modern shoes, glasses, jewelry or cigarettes.  If you must smoke, bring a period pipe.  You are required to stay in your 18th-century attire in the evenings.
(5)  LIVING HISTORY activities will begin at 8:30 am Saturday morning and conclude on Sunday at 4:00 pm.  Participants are requested to remain for the enitre program.
(6)  ON YOUR ARRIVAL, please check in at the registration table by the park entrance gate.  This will allow for more accurate event planning.  You will be shown your set-up area to ensure that you will not have to move your camp.  Set-up starts Thursday.  On Friday, School Day, there will be no set-up between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM.  Early set-up on Friday must be complete by 8:30 AM and cannot start until after 3:00 pm.
(7)  SUTLERS are welcome to participate by invitation.  A separate area will be provided.  Displays must be appropriate to the period.
(8)  SAFETY STANDARDS will be in effect and will be given to unit commanders upon arrival.
(9)  MILITARY COURTESY AND DISCIPLINE are in effect all times during the weekend.
(10)  MILITARY UNITS are requested to bring regimental colors and field music.  We would like to have a battlefield battle each day.  No dogs on the battlefield.  Skirmishes and skits and activities are planned or welcomed throughout the day.
(11)  MODERN CAMPSITES (electrical and water hookups) and showers are available in the park's campground.  There will be a small fee for modern camp area.
(12)  JUBILEE STATE PARK will provide firewood, water, straw, showers, modern bathrooms, and a Saturday evening potluck meal.  Please bring a dish to share at the potluck meal.
(13)  VEHICLES are not permitted overnight in the Living History area.  After setting up camp, you must park your car in designated area.
This is a Living History encampment organized in order for the participants and our public visitors to have an educational and exciting experience.  Your adherence to these guidelines will make the event more enjoyable for everyone.  Thank you for your cooperation.
NO VEHICLES ALLOWED IN CAMP SATURDAY AFTER 8:30 AM OR SUNDAY BEFORE 4:00 PM.
